Something different…

I didn’t spend much time today thinking about Shard Wardens, so this post will be a bit random.

I spent a fair chunk of money I got for Christmas at Belmont Party Supply buying ingredients for a Single Hop Special Bitter with U.S. grown Kent Goldings hops. This is the first time in a few years I’d been to the store, and I was really impressed. Their beer brewing section used to be basically the corner of the otherwise normal liquor store. They have expanded, taking over the next-door store in the plaza with nothing but brewing gear and ingredients. Up to this point I have almost exclusively purchased ingredients online through Northern Brewer but Belmont had pretty competitive prices, when you factor in shipping. I’m not sure when I’ll get a chance to brew, but I’m hoping it will be sometime this week.

I spent some time today reading the entries for the 2011 Ronnies, and I’m surprised by the sheer number of “serious” games. The tone of this competition (and Game Chef) is very different from the tone of the twenty four hour RPG competition that I entered Appliance Adventures into. Maybe my gaming interests are juvenile, but a lot of these entries seem really heavy.
